Any chance of some support? |
|
10/03 |
I'm not one for saying much on
this site cos people have a right to an opinion and whether it's right
wrong, good or bad, an opinion is all it is but this season has just been
unbelievable. We won promotion but in doing so lost good, strong
players because of work, money or whatever reasons. All the players
who stayed and the new ones that made the commitment to the Club now have to
put up with is comments like "lets bring the 1830's team back they'd run
rings round this side"! Yes, I do know this is probably one of those
players or someone who watched them and they probably were good. The
argument about whether they'd be any good now would go on and on but at the
end of the day we're never going to know - simple as that. Also
regarding the comments of "bring back Parky, Scams, Rewie, Lissy, Stu
Hensman etc" - all either were or are good enough for this level without a
doubt but they aren't here so why go on about it? The players at the
Club would love that quality playing with them but again chances are its
never going to happen. Things haven't been going well and results are
not going our way. People aren't happy and have a moan that's
understandable but nearly every thread on here now has a dig at some point
about either the manager or the players. The lack of support on here
doesn't help anyone or the Club. Other clubs must come on here, have a
read and laugh they're nuts off and the worse bit is even the boys up the
road in Fareham come on and laugh and all of it is just an embarrassment!
I wonder if there is any other Club with a website full of "supporters"
quite like our one.

I agree. I mean why have
digs at the current crop? Fair enough, results haven't been going our
way but you can only ask for the best and what Pikey thinks goes basically.
Okay, I don't always agree but its not my decision and I will stick by Pikey
in every decision. The booing at the end of the Burnham game was
unjust - for 84 minutes we kept them out and one little mistake and we lose.
You have to support the current crop because otherwise this Club will go
backwards not forwards and I don't think anyone wants that.

One thing "Player that's been at the Club more than a year",
I have to say you haven't picked a very good pseudonym have you? I
mean, how many of the current squad have actually been here over a year?
Not many.
The way things work at Privett most weren't here at Christmas (or does it
just seem like that?). Given five minutes and a little thought and I'm
sure we can work out who you are so may I suggest next time something a
little more cryptic?

I think this guy has a
brilliant pseudonym! At this rate he must be eligible for a long
service and good conduct medal.

A "Player that's been at the
club more than a year"' - so that's Whitey or Browner then!

Sorry is this a better name?
Oh and being at the Club doesn't mean playing! Hmmm.

I agree with the player.
After we went up some of the players we had could not make the commitment
due to work and also the large area that they now have to travel. Things
have therefore been unsettled but over the last five or six games there has
been commitment from the players and team work. Yes they lost a few of
those but they did not give up fighting. The Taunton game was good and
there were at least three local youngsters out there who played very well
and will most certainly be making more appearances. To help the Club,
turn your energy into promoting the Club to get the people through the gate
to support. This will increase revenue and then who knows, perhaps that
will sway our application for the grant so the ground can be improved even
further. We can all be managers sitting on the side line but from the
tone of this website would any of us really want Pikey's job?

Would I want Pikey's job?
You have to be joking! It is much more fun telling him how to run his
team properly.

I didn't mean to offend
anyone. The support is normally good but lately its just too negative.

Are we the only team in the
league that doesn't sing?

Danny you may rest assured
that your return to the team has been one of the good points this season.
After a couple of good displays and a couple of wins, hopefully the fans
will start to rally round again.

That narrows it down Danny.
You said you weren't playing at the moment and had been there longer than a
year. That narrows it down to one blonde haired midfielder with initials
DS.

Cor this is like a game of
Cluedo! Who would have thought that following GBFC would be so exciting and
mentally stimulating. All we have to do now is guess where Pikey has
hidden the lead piping and we're home and dry. Matt the reason our
supporters don't sing is because they are all too old to sing. Most of
them are lucky to get enough oxygen in to propel themselves around let alone
have any left over to sing.

If that is Sturman he should
be playing. I didn't even know he was still at the Club - mind you I
don't recognise half the players nowadays!

I would sing all the time but
you wouldn't here my dulcet tones because Tracey would just drown me out.

Not all the Sheddies are old
and cant sing (except Tom the ball boy). We try top make some noise
but it doesn't take much to outdo the main stand with its prawn sandwich
brigade.

Maybe if the songs were more
positive and behind the players then we might pick up a bit. It seems
to be all moans and groans lately!
