Fareham - Newman/Harper
Memorial Trophy |
|
03/04 |
What a pity that the Fareham
match has been scheduled for a Tuesday evening. As a season curtain
closer this could have been a big crowd draw. The attendance on Tuesday
evenings hasn't been stunning mainly because I haven't been there!
Maybe we could use the fixture as a curtain raiser on a Saturday next
season? Maybe have a Fareham Vs Gosport darts match or something in
the clubhouse following on from the game?

Gosport darts players would
welcome the challenge from Fareham. Another Fareham team to
beat...bring it on!

How much is the admission?

Either £5 or £6. We'll
probably charge Boro' boys a fiver and Townies six!!! The programme is £1.

That wouldn't surprise me!
10 at £5 from Boro' and 50 at £6 from Town!

I can confirm that admission
to tonight's game is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. Both
Fareham fans will be allowed a £1 discount on the special Fareham Town rate
of £6!!!

Are you Newport, are you
Newport, are you Newport in disguise? Just wonder what the score would
have been when you were going through your bad run?

What a thrashing! 5-3!
Fareham played as we wanted to win it. Did Boro' bother turning up or
think it would be an easy win over rivals from a lower league? Which
team is in the Southern League? And don't give us the one about it
being a "friendly". The best team won at a canter tonight and Pikey
would not be best pleased.

Call yourself a Southern
League side? You were hammered. No guts, no commitment and
lacking in skill. I've seen better defences in Sunday teams. If
you want to see attacking, flowing football there's only one place to go and
it ain't Privett.

5-3 and you were lucky to get
three. Had your central defenders met each other before. And
before you start Pikey, hands off Gary Austin.

Crikey, I've never noticed so
many Fareham fans in the same place. In case you've not noticed lads,
it's Gosport in the Southern League and Fareham in the working men's Wessex.
The Boro' lads obviously realised you needed something to shout about and
had great sympathy for you. True, I can't remember a side that created
five and scored five but hey, at least the ref and lino's were wearing the
right colour shorts. In the meantime, enjoy the glory lads and
hopefully you find some guys out there with enough loose change to buy the
club!

Pikey. Your boys took a
hell of a beating!

Attacking football at Cams
Alders? Yeh right. Maybe from the opposition. Just remind
me of where Fareham are in the Working Man's League. According to the
Locks Heath website they are eyeing your ground - probably need extra car
parking space. Come back on here when you've taken three points off us
or beaten us in a proper cup game. When was you last win against us in
a competitive match?

I bet you there would be a
match report of the Fareham game if you had won!

Anyway, it seems these Fareham
fans are missing the point. It was principally a charity match.

Take a look at our side and
watch us next season. Our side is full of hungry youngsters and after
a season of getting to know one and other watch us fly next season.
Woodward, Austin, Field - great players and all 21 or under. And apart
from Webber, Watts and Foster, all other players under 23. Stop the
moaning Boro' and accept a beating.

Can I just say thank u to
Gosport for holding this first ever cup game. It was a good game of
football and please don't forget we were raising money for Cancer charities.
I do believe the best team on the night won. Fareham showed they were
a very good side and their attacking forward was so quick Gosport found it
hard to keep up. Overall it was a very enjoyable game and that's what
football should be about.

Come on, let us have a moment
in the sun. We are normally cr*p against your lot and have been since
I started watching FTFC in 1987. Please allow us our moment to gloat.
First time since we sent you down in 1992.

I would not wish to deprive
any Fareham fan of their moment of glory but you never know we may meet in a
cup competition next season and I would hope this thread is taken in right
spirit of rivalry banter..

The same Fareham side that
lost to local sides Hayling and Horndean.

And your point is what Rod ?
If it's what I think it is then it's hardly the same in terms of inspiration
- trying to beat local pub sides or your local rivals is it? Hopefully
the only real winners were the charities.

We did beat Gosport in 2002/03
Splodge - 3-1 I think. Lloyd Mitchell banged two in and we destroyed them!
