Fleet Town - Russell Cotes |

As one of the eight fans to
make the trip last night, I would like to make a few comments before the
usual recriminations begin. Yes 6-2 looks shocking but having been 3-0
down the boys rolled there sleeves up and gave it a proper go reducing the
deficit to 3-2 and went in at half time the better side. But conceding
an early second half goal took the wind out of our sails and then like a
boxer who won't go down we kept battling only to be picked off on the
counter attack by a very good side. Also, in the bar afterwards you
good see from the players faces that they were as upset about the result as
the small group of fans but if the first half performance can be repeated at
Privett Park on Saturday we will bounce back.

I got home from Fleet last
night feeling more than a little angry. The reason I feel annoyed is
because our manager apparently decided to go and watch another team when he
really should have been in the dug-out at Fleet. If he had family or
business commitments then no problem but to hear he was watching another
team when his own desperately needed him is disgraceful. The Boro',
including some young players, really needed some direction from the dug-out
last night and got none whatsoever. I could hear a pin drop over
there. I commend the team for their display in the last 15 minutes of
the first half - that was awesome - but then the same 11 players were simply
awful in the second half and didn't show any pride whatsoever. You'd
have thought they would have pushed on from those last few minutes of the
first half. I'm sorry Alex but if you want to just play at being a
manager, do it elsewhere. Those players needed you last night. If
watching Oxford is more important than being there for your own players then
I think you should consider resigning. I have been a staunch Pikey
supporter up until this point but now I do wonder if the time is right for a
change.

In response to Vincent, Alex
never takes Russell Cotes games and always lets his management team take the
reins. Ian Robinson was in charge on the night (an experienced
Southern League manager in his own right) and Alex went to watch two
potential players that had been scouted for him. If the games had been
on different nights then Alex would have been at both games I'm sure.

Agree that the final score
looked dire from your point of view but also agree that for at least the
last 25 minutes of the first half you looked a more than competent side.
Going three down in the first 15 minutes would have knocked the stuffing out
of most and maybe the fact you had little to do galvanised the players.
However, from there on in for the rest of the half you controlled the game,
passed the ball around really well and we struggled. Lee Chudy in
particular gave our midfield and defence real grief and was the best player
on the park. I for one was pleased to hear the half time whistle.
I understand our manager tore into our side hence the blitz at the start of
the second half.
We were trying to prove something to ourselves after two league defeats to
lower placed clubs so you may have been the victims of that backlash
Still, if Gosport can consistently get anywhere near the form you showed in
the latter part of that first half then you will give any side at this level
a game.
I'm not sure how many more times we have to play you (it seems like we're
becoming old friends) but look forward to the next encounter.

But as another of the eight
who invested time and money travelling to Fleet, why do we bother to enter
our first team in this Cup if Pikey isn't interested? I don't want to
rake over an old wound, but it's not just RCC games that he sits back for -
the home FA Cup replay with Fleet being just one example. Don't get me
wrong, I still back Alex as manager - next season will be the one to judge
him - but surely a large percentage of a manager's job is to direct from the
bench on a matchday?

We have a scout! This is
very interesting, perhaps. You could enlighten the faithful with some
details of our scouting team.

Why do we need more players?
Tracey |
|

Lionel - one of the advantages
of having a large management team is that they can watch other teams and
players. Pikey has many contacts and we often have someone watching
players or forthcoming opponents for us. Tracey - I thought the view
of many of the fans on here was that the current crop of players were not
good enough!

I'm sorry but having a dig at
Pikey every two minutes is getting very, very boring. So what if he
wasn't there. What difference does that make? He left the very
experienced Ian Robinson in charge so please take a break or go on the "
Times up for Pikey" thread.

They may play better if the
same team takes to the park more often. How can players gel if every time
they play they have different players along side them.

I agree with Bored Player!
Please can the Pikey bashers stick to one thread rather than ruining every
single thread with their moaning. This is getting very dreary you
know.
