Lack of players |
|

Firstly I would like to ask
why Andy Puckett and Danny Thompson were not available on Saturday?
Also, whatever happened to Steve Leigh, Terry Cox and Moussa Mamabue and has
Charlton Clarke left the Club. If so, why? Sam Carter I presume
has also left the Club. We do not seem to be kept fully informed of
all departures. I would also like to ask that when like last
Saturday's game at Uxbridge we were short of players? Why can we not
bring back our players on loan to other clubs? Their experience would
surely be of more use than reserve and youth team players.

Andy Puckett was suspended on
Saturday and Thommo is currently out of the country. Steve Leigh is
injured and Charlton Clarke had work commitments and was unavailable.
Both Terry Cox and Moussa Mamabue have indeed left the Club after their
services were deemed no longer required. Regarding loan players,
both Ian Rew and Wayne Boud have been invited to return from Fareham Town.
Wayne has asked to stay at Cams as he is hoping to lift the Wessex League
Cup with Town and Rewie is getting regular football and has also asked to
stay.

Sam Carter has moved to

Quite true. I forgot to
add Sam into my earlier reply.

We need a complete clear out
of players at the end of the season. I actually think that Pikey is a good
manager but I have been lost of words for the player ins and outs. We are a
shadow of the team that lost to Didcot in August. I suggest Pikey builds a
team around Browner, Michael White, Thommo and Justin Bennett. This is
not a bash Pikey and the team post - we want a team to can recognise and
relate to.

Would just like to put the
record straight regarding the above comments. I have not been playing
regularly at Fareham but I am happy to stay and fight for a place as I was
not invited to return to Gosport.

So Rew And Boud aren't on loan
are they - dual registration perhaps.

It depends on your definition
of loan. Yes they are dual registered on Southern League forms with
Boro' and Wessex League forms with Fareham. As the Wessex League does
not permit "loans", Town would claim they are dual registered but we would
claim they are on loan. The same applied last season when we "dual
registered" Mark Peters from Basingstoke. They regarded it as a loan.

Well what an extraordinary
season this is turning out to be! It seems to be a case of two players
in and two out every week. I notice there were a couple of new
characters playing in the last match that I've not heard of before. I
assume that Pikey is using this season to trawl through the available talent
and get a decent squad next year but it lends ammunition to his detractors
and the results in the second half of the season do not seem to support this
ethos.

Site Manager you are quiet
right about Wayne to a point. He didn't feel it was right to walk away
from a chance of winning silverware this season with Fareham and asked to
stay to see it through. But he did discuss with the management about
being available for midweek games and it was agreed he could be called on
for these. For whatever reason, he has not been contacted.
Perhaps yet another player in the mix this season would not be productive
for the club or the individual. I personally think Wayne has proved
himself this season with 11 goals so far added to consistently good
performances in his first full season in Wessex Premier football. The
"loan" has done him the world of good. The close season would
now appear to be the sensible time for the Club to decide what it wants to
do with its "loan players"

I read that the Site Manager
states "both Ian Rew and Wayne Boud have been invited to return from Fareham
Town" yet both seem to contradict this. Could you please clarify what
is going on as I like many others would like to see a 'known and proven
face' back at the park to lift both the team and the supporters. Come
on the Boro'.

I can only go by what I am
told but if you read Plod's comment you will see that Wayne certainly did
speak to the management team about a return.

Angry B - the youngsters you
refer to as "coming through" are players who have been playing at Locks
Heath all season for our reserves and youth team.
Having agreed for them to play in the British Gas Midweek Youth Cup to
assist Boro' and give the lads experience, it appears that they are
desperately needed by your first team. It's good to see they are getting
first team experience, which they weren't getting at Locks Heath due to the
strength and depth we have at the club. They have done us proud,
winning their Youth League and the reserves are currently sitting eight
points clear at the top of their division. We wish the boys well.

Loved the burger - it's the
football that's left a bad taste in the mouth. Have to say the Taunton
game was a vast improvement though.

It was a refreshing change to
watch the game on Tuesday and actually see the team play with shape and
direction. My concern being that the squad has changed so much over
the course of the season with the manager making so many signings of players
clearly not up to the task. With all the talk of not enough quality
locally, it amuses me that the only enjoyable game has been with playing
fresh local talent. Mr Pike if your networking and scouting was closer
to home I am sure you would have a team capable of holding its own while
also getting the numbers through the gate that a successful side would
merit.

No, Plod certainly isn't

I am not Splodge in disguise
and would never claim to have Splodges knowledge of non-league football.
I have never hidden the fact Im Wayne's dad and most people know that and
Plod refers to my job and some say the pace at which I ran the line for
Boro' reserves for a couple of seasons!

I see that we had another new
player from the reserves this time I believe, name of Sones. I also
understand that makes 42 players through the books this season which must be
some sort of record.

I think Pikey fancies himself
as Baldrick and has a cunning plan to get us in the record books for most
players through the books in a season - whether they can play or not.

Skumbanana, you mention some
kind of record. That is not a sly way of putting song titles back on

I don't see how people moan
about the lack of players. For a start there's loads of players in the
reserve team which could easily come in and help which is what the reserve
team is for but everyone seems to ignore the reserve team and get players
from youth team like Steve Sones and Steve Cammack when there are players
just as good or even better in reserves.

Please don't let me be
misunderstood but I'm just a jealous guy. I see you lot standing in
the house of the rising sun and wish I could be close to you. But this
is going nowhere and I can't get no satisfaction. Should I stay or
should I go? It's the midnight hour and I'm leaving on a jet plane.
Farewell!
