Newport game |
|
25/03 |
Well done to the team for a
gritty display against a determined and battling Newport side. Good
performances all round but particularly Thommo who was outstanding.
Man of the match for me. I did feel very sorry for Newport who will
have the best ground in the Wessex next season. For any Newport
supporters reading this take heart that although you will be playing at a
lower level if you can get back to winning ways then you will have a much
better time. This must have been a miserable season all round for you.
In some respects it doesn't matter too much whether you are playing Uxbridge
or Poole next season if you can get some results.

This was never going to be an
easy game with Newport fighting for their BGB Southern League lives and you
would expect a reaction from their poor result on Saturday. So well
done to Pikey and the lads who kept the winning run going. On another
note, it was nice to see young Steve Cammack play another 90 minutes.
Another young local player who has a bright future. It was sad to see
Manna struggle against Bennett and Cammack though. I was hoping to see
him return to The Boro' next season but I feel his performance yesterday has
resigned himself to a career away from The Boro'. Wish you all the
best in the future Manna you have been a great servant to this Club but the
football team has moved on - although you still more then compete in the
bar!

If I were Pikey I would
putting a finger up at those so called fans who were having a go a few weeks
ago. Not hearing much from them now.

In reponse to the IOW Hopper,
I have struggled all year against all the forwards due to playing in a team
that has let in nearly 150 goals! You trying playing in that!
You should judge me on what I have played like all season not just on
Monday. No joking - we were out played on the day by far a better team
that I will always want to do well as I have a lot of friends still at the
Club and always look out for their results. You have probably the best
striker in the league in Justin and I have played against them all.
The future does look good for The Boro' but don't write the Manna off just
yet! And in response to the bar comment, I am very, very competitive
in the bar. See you in there for a beer. Mines a lager.

Nice to see Manna still has a
sense of humour. He has served this Club well and it was sad to see him
struggling. I will always remember him as a steady Wessex player.

Jason Mann was a great servant
to the Club. He may not have been blessed with skills but he tried hard and
he cared about The Boro'. He played over 300 games for Boro' which is quite
a lot for someone with limited ability! I will always remember him as
someone who tried.

Thank you for your kind words
Dave - you really touch me. I must admit I did okay for someone with
little ability! You will find it was closer to 400 than 300 games but
who's counting?

Sorry Jason, did I touch a
nerve? I was upset to see you playing against The Boro' and thought I would
try and defend your honour. Yes, I have seen a lot of more talented players
at The Boro' but not as many who were as committed. Does that sound
better? I think it was nearer to 300 games Jason.

I played with Jason for a long
time in midfield and I don't think he deserves any criticism. So what if he
didn't have silky skills and he had a turning circle like an oil tanker? He
worked his socks off for The Boro' and gave 120 per cent. Leave him alone!

Dave - didn't touch a nerve
mate, was having a laugh with you. I think I ended up with 381 first
team appearances actually mate. That's why I said nearer 400 then 300!

Great to have banter about
Manna. I for one think that he was the best servant the Club has ever
had. I remember him playing as a youth player at Privett and he didn't
take any prisoners then! He went on to become a really great player
for Boro' but like everyone they can't keep on playing for ever. All the
best Manna and I know I will see you in the bar sometime and would happily
buy you a pint. All the best to your family!

Just reading some comments on
Manna. The lad played all his football at Gosport in good and bad
sides and I think you as fans should say thanks mate, good luck and never
utter a bad word. Jason never let the Club down - 100 percent every
time. You will be back at the Club in the future passing on your
spirit on and off the field to lads new and old. 381 games well done
mate.

Manna was committed to The
Boro' cause for many a year and always gave 120%. Just wish there were more
like him. Yellow ball!

Jason certainly was committed
but why has he phoned all his mates up and asked them to write nice things
on here! See you in the bar Jason. I will be wearing a rose (yellow)
with my tongue well and truly in my cheek! Let's get Jason back here as
youth team coach next year.

Dave you found me out. I
have a huge phone bill now and the problem is now I have run out of mates!

I thought this was somewhere
we could all express our opinions and agree to disagree. Dave doesn't rate
Jason Mann and that's his choice. I don't see why players and ex-players
should try and sway people's opinions.
