Reserves v Wimborne |
|
09/02 |
Good to see the team playing
decent football today. Two well worked goals and a fully deserved win.
A good clean sheet yet again with Lee Sharp and Geoff Mcgowan at the centre
of it. Is the friendly coming up going to be a chance for these player
to prove their worth?

Why is our reserves being
portrayed as a glorified pub side with certain members of the coaching staff
playing their children when they would look out of place in a pub side and
the youngsters are not even getting a chance?

What you going on about Boro
Observer? You don't make sense.

Read it slowly Chris. I
got it or is it a bit of a sensitive subject?

Just to inform so called Boro'
Observer, I do not pick the side - that is Macca's job. And may be the
words of 'not much of ' should be added to your alias! Give the youngsters a
chance? On Saturday the reserves included in their line up Cal Laycock
(17), Matt Rudd (16), James Dobin (19), Joe Williams (19), Dan Jones (18),
Scott Allen (17) and Sam Martin (18). Are they old Observer? This
doesn't include Tom Pigford (16) who came on after coming back from injury
and suspension. Add to that Scott Woods (16) who was on the bench.
Macca sees Craig as giving the side a physical aspect and allows others to
play and its not always your most gifted players who make up the best team.
Also how about naming the youngster's you talk about? I will also add
I don't normally read these forums but when recovering from a recent hip
operation boredom does set in and I wonder if, like a lot of the other
discussions, there is a hidden agenda regarding the comments.

Well said Tony. Up the
ressies! What about the older players that wisely use their years of
experience to keep the team going in every game (Jeff, Peachy and Sharpy?).

Still playing the old "hip"
card Stares? That could explain your wayward cricket bowling figures
as well as your chocolate wrists in goal.

Just to say that the reserves
are putting on a great show of football recently. Good matches and a bit of
an atmosphere too! Well done to all involved.

Boro Observer you are getting
a bit personal but hopefully it is in jest and everyone actually knows who
you are! I think Tony Stares has given you a very forthright and honest
answer. I have only just started to watch the reserves play and as for his
son playing he really adds something to the midfield, is totally committed
and seems to win to every tackle he goes for. This coupled with his
encouragement to the young players on the team make him a fantastic asset.
Along with playing good football, the way the reserves work for each other
make them good to watch and long may it continue.

I've watched the reserves the
last two home games and I've really enjoyed the football, I agree with
Anon, Tony's son Craig does add something to the midfield - something the
young players can learn from. You need to have a few old heads in a
young team and it's definitely working from what I've seen. You've got
goalie Geoff, Sharpy, Craig then Peachy as the back bone of the team and
it's good watching them play with some good young players.
