Tuesday's friendly |
|
12/02 |
Having just got home from
tonight's game and at the risk of starting another anti-Pike thread, I have
to say that if this is the future then God help us all! Admittedly
Christchurch took the game with extreme seriousness but it would appear that
they have inherited the first team's problems of not scoring. Not to
have a shot on target is amazing if one thinks that any of tonight's players
could come into the first team. The early season spirit seems to have
died. Anyone else with any thoughts?

What a load of rubbish.
I feel cheated out of £3. I thought the beautiful game was called
football not longball. All this lumping it up-field and hoping a
striker can reach it before the defender isn't working. Let's start on
the training pitch with basic skills and attitude. If its good enough
for England its good enough for The Boro'.

Would anybody who was lucky
enough to go to this game like to tell us what happened? Score maybe?
Who was playing? That sort of stuff?

Absolutely appalling from
start to finish. If they expected it to be a morale boosting friendly
then they certainly did not get it. Even when we had the full squad
out it was still appalling. I think Steve is right - no one on that
team deserves to be on the first team and the worst thing is none of the
team had a care in the world that they got stuffed 3-0. Pikey was
making things worse by mouthing off to the players. Maybe its time to
stop ranting and raving at them or they will turn their back on you.
Lets hope we don't see a repeat performance on Saturday or the anti-Pike
threads will definitely carry on.

Just one point to support the
reserve players - there were a number of first team players out there and I
don't think that the reserve players looked any worse! A very
disappointing display. I was more entertained by the banter with the
linesman.

Thing was also that Gosport
had a lot of the first team playing to and still couldn't manage a shot on
target and were overall out played!

Following the game on Tuesday,
I expressed my concerns to a Club official. He assured me things would
get better. The appointment of Fred Willett from Moneyfields is hoped
to bring more young talent to the Club without upsetting the budget.
Anyone know much about Fred Willett?

I now play for Horndean but
still look at the affairs and results of The Boro'. We beat Christchurch at
the weekend and we don't pay a single player anything. We all play
because we wont to. Christchurch aren't a bad team but a Southern
League side should, in all honesty, be disposing of Wessex opposition - even
if it is a friendly

The whole game was a farce
from start to finish. The only two players who looked like they could
play football were the two central midfielders in the first half (Ford and
O'Neil). Even though everything they tried did not come off at least
they were trying to play football instead of just lumping the ball forward
to a red shirt. There is a big gap between the first team and reserves
and I think this game proved it.

Lets get this straight, the
gaffer did not play a full strength Southern League side. We played
two sixteen year olds and two seventeen year olds from the youth team, two
eighteen year olds and four other players from the reserves and first team
players were then mixed with these. When we played Christchurch at the
start of pre-season we played them off the park at their place and beat them
6-0. So Rory, without knowing all the facts what gives you the right
to criticise your ex-team mates? Where and when can these players be
tested by the boss? I can assure everyone we have a happy changing
room and we will turn the corner. How can any player be happy playing
at Horndean unless they are playing regularly as they struggled to play
elsewhere?

Maybe Horndean have an
excellent management team and the lads all enjoy playing together.
Happy changing room at Boro'? Half the players don't even know each
other!
