And it was thanks to a superb team effort that The Boro' saw off Blue Square South side Dorchester Town and put themselves into the hat for Monday's draw.
From the start it was clear that the home side's superiority was going to worry Boro' all afternoon. The Magpies were quicker and more forceful than the visitors who struggled at times in the opening few minutes to get to the pace of the game.
A Dorchester pushed for an opening goal, Boro's defence was called into action with Brett Poate denying Nick Crittenden and then Lee Molyneaux on hand to snuff out the threat of Crittenden again and Neil Martin.
But Gosport gradually found their feet and began to see a good percentage of the ball. Justin Bennett's effort that brought a full-length save from Walker-Harris gave Boro' a lift and in a good few minutes for the visitors, George Way made space for himself and rifled a low shot into the corner of the Town goal to the delight of the following faithful.
Town were forced to up their game and came close to equalising when a goal-bound effort was turned onto Ashmore's post before the 'keeper managed to scoop the ball to safety.
Having picked up a knock midway through the half, Dan Wooden was eventually forced out of the game just before the break to be replace by Ellis Martin.
As Boro' soaked up yet more pressure, Gavin Jones came to the rescue just before the break when he cleared Ryan Moss' effort and kept his side ahead at the break.
Having no doubt discussed their second half game-plan in the break, The Magpies were left shell-shocked within three minutes of the restart. Gosport had won a corner on their right and Way's whipped near-post kick was met by Bennett's thundering header to make it 2-0 and to force the home side into a desperate double substitution.
It was now that Boro' enjoyed their best spell. Brimming with confidence and with Town shocked and disjointed, the visitors took control and would have finished off the senior side had Nathan Kirby's header not been cleared off the line by Critchell.
Ross Langworthy, who had initially struggled to find his way into the game, found himself with more and more space to operate in and his pace was causing the Town problems as every attack they mounted soon came back at them.
The Magpies were pushing harder and harder for a way back into the game but the Gosport defence was holding firm until Dickinson slipped his man and rifled in a shot with 19 minutes to go.
With Dorchester sensing they now had a way back, it was virtually all one way traffic with Boro' fighting a desperate rear-guard action. As shot after shot rained down, the yellow wall remained firm and when they were breached Ashmore dealt with it.
Pike sacrificed Langworthy with ten minutes to go and brought on Dan Woodward to help shore up an under pressure defence and the ploy worked as the clock ran down and the cheers of Boro's travelling support drowned out the boos of the home fans at the final whistle.
