The start of the game couldn't have been more different as Justin Bennett twice found The Millers' net within the opening five minutes.
On three minutes Dan Wooden's challenge for a lofted ball set up Bennett to volley home from the edge of the area for his 23rd of the season and two minutes later he added number 24 after George Way found him with an excellent pass and the striker drove a low shot past Warrall.
Boro' continued to press and could have had a hatful before the break with Bennett, James Ford, Wooden and Adam Wilde all going close and Lee Molyneaux seeing his goal ruled out for a handball.
Just after the break Leigh pulled themselves back into the game when Morgan Williams outpaced Aaron Cook and beat Nathan Ashmore but after a spell of pressure from the visitors Gosport soon reinstated their advantage.
Steve Claridge, on as a half-time substitute for Adam Wilde netted Boro's third after Bennett provided a pinpoint cross for the veteran striker to head in from six yards.
Ford then blazed over twice in as many minutes as Gosport went on the hunt for more but with the clock winding down Molyneaux was sent off for a second bookable offence and Boro' suffered a collapse.
From the resulting free-kick Andy Caton found the net after the kick came back off the crossbar and with only three minutes left on the clock Ashmore missed a deep cross and the ball hit Ellis Martin and found its way into the net to earn the visitors a point.
