Lang deal goes sour on Pike
Published: 2 December 2007

Alex Pike's attempts to replace David Birmingham with Winchester City's Adam Lang have been thwarted by the City man's wage demands claims Alex Pike.

Speaking to Steve Wilson of The News, the Boro' boss claimed, "We were interested in Adam Lang but his wage demands were too high so now we've ended our interest."

Pike was hopeful that Lang would fill the void left by Birmingham's recent move to Bognor Regis Town.  And with Lang's former Lymington & New Milton boss Ian Robinson now Pike's assistant, it was also hoped that he would have some sway with the City man.

"We made him an offer and he turned it down," said Pike.  "We were miles apart with regards to what I was prepared to offer and what he wanted.  I won't be going back in for him.  That one is dead now."

But Lang was only one name that Pike was chasing.

"I have one or two options I am pursuing at the moment.  One of them is playing at a higher level so we may have to patient.  But I am hopeful we will be able to get him," he said.
