Quarter finals for U8 reds in home tournament
Published: 6 September 2007

The last Tournament of the summer showed a Boro' U8s 'red' side ready for the season ahead.

Boro’s first game was against a very formidable Porchester side.  The game was played at high tempo with the deadlock being broke with a fine goal from Ben Duffin after the keeper saved twice from Jack Gillen and Matthew Boudier.

Game two against Denmead saw a great midfield battle with great runs from Wil Miller and Daniel Toon but Boro' conceded two late goals and lost 2-0.

A further two goals from Ben Duffin clinched game three against Wimbledon Park Tigers after defence splitting balls from Jamie Winter and Ben Braithwaite.  This game would have been a different story if not for some fine saves from Zach Robinson.

Game four and the quarter-final was against the Horndean Hawks with the same result in both games - Boro' losing 1-0.  However, the scores would have been higher if not for the fine defensive job from Rhys Walmsley, Matthew Pritchard and Kyle Thornhill.

A well organised tournament with fine weather proved a winning formula for the U8s to give them a boost going into their first league season.
