McNamara and Boro' part company
Published: 8 May 2008

Gosport Borough have parted company with reserve team manager Neil McNamara.

The request that Neil relinquish his position as manager of the Wessex Combination side was simultaneous with the Club's decision to change the direction of the reserve side for 2008/09.

It is now the firm intention of the Club that the Combination side will be one of youth with very few "older hands" in an attempt to find, nurture and bring through local talent that can form the backbone of the first team of the future.

With the gulf in standards between Wessex Combination and Southern League football, the Club felt that the reserve team would be better utilised in introducing youth players to the more physical men's game.

The Club would like to publicly thank Neil who has worked tremendously hard at the helm this season and wish him all the best for the future.
