Title so close for Ladies

Following a comfortable 4-0 win over Horndean, Gosport Borough Ladies can almost touch the Hampshire League title but this week their minds will be on different silverware.

On Thursday night (12th April) the Ladies team will meet Havant & Waterlooville Ladies in the Portsmouth Cup Final at Moneyfields' Dover Road ground.

Although Dave Pickering's squad will go into the game as underdogs, Boro' Ladies intend to ensure Hawks girls do not have an easy ride, despite being three steps below the Hawks in the ladies pyramid.

However, Pickering and coach Alex De Barletta's main focus will be the Hampshire Women's League crown - something they are just three points away from lifting with three games remaining.

The team have taken a huge step forward this season.  The nucleus of the team has remained the same since foundation but this season the addition of a few new signings has greatly assisted the team and the progression has them on the brink of a league title and promotion to the Southern Region Women's Football League (Division 1 South).

The ladies team also intend to form a reserve side next season to help girls progress from the youth teams through to the senior side.
