Services 'keeper in Pike's sights
Published: 12 September 2007

Alex Pike is hoping to bring a new goalkeeper to The Boro' ahead of an impending 'keeper crisis at The GDL.

Pike will loose current number one Mark Brown through work commitments in the run up to Christmas and summer signing James Lester will be out for up to three months following an operation.

So Pike has looked across the Harbour to United Services Portsmouth's young 'keeper Nathan Ashmore.

Ashmore is highly rated by Pike.  "He is an exciting young talent," said the manager.  "I watched him at Milton United in their FA Vase replay in midweek and even though he conceded two goals, you could see he see he was a class act."

Pike will hope the chance of first team football will be enough to persuade Ashmore to join as it is understood both Blue Square and professional clubs are also interested in signing the 17 year old South Downs College student.
