Jeremy to hang up his mic and fork off!!!
Published: 13 November 2007

Assistant secretary Jeremy Fox has decided that time is right to move on and will leave The Boro' at the end of the season.

Foxy, the voice of Radio Privett, former programme editor (and still a regular contributor), chief pitch forker and organiser of the summer working parties etc etc will call it a day after many years dedicated service to the Club.

In a statement for the Club's website, Jeremy said:

"It is with the greatest regret that I announce that I will be resigning from all my official capacities within Gosport Borough Football Club, effective from the end of the current (2007/08) season.

"This has been one of single most difficult decisions to make of my entire life but after four months of careful deliberation, I am certain it is the correct one.
I have been supporting the Club since 1990 and have been a volunteer, then Club Official since 1995 and have spent my entire adult life giving unconditional and total dedication to the Club.  I have thoroughly enjoyed this and down the years have met many people and formed some fantastic friendships, many I know will last for the rest of my life.

"The Club has been like a family for me for many years and I have been honoured to be part of it. I have had many, many special moments all of which I will cherish for ever.  Those moments have come in good times and in bad.

"But all things end.  I am almost 30 years-old and have a young family, who, for the last few years have seen very little of me at times and my son is now six.  If I’m not careful, I will miss seeing him grow up and miss the best years of his childhood.  He deserves to see more of me as does my wife Chantal, who whilst being supportive of my work for the Club, has also not seen very much me and both of them deserve better.  My home life has suffered and I would like to spend more time focusing on that and my professional life which has also suffered lately.

"I also seek new challenges to take me into the next phase of my life.  One of those is to advance my career which I felt has been stagnating in recent times.  I would like to also focus on new challenges in my free time.  There are various reasons for my decision but in the main, I just feel it is time for a change.

"Before closing there are a few people I must thank.  There are so many and I obviously can't pay tribute to everyone by name - that would take a very long time.  But in particular, I would like to thank Brian Cosgrave for his time, his friendship and guidance which is very special to me and a friendship I hope, will last forever.  Thanks go to his family, Jenny, Becky, Paul and Amy for their friendship down the years.  A special thanks to Jock & Nina Chittenden whose friendship has been ever present and I have known them since I was 12.  I am also very grateful to Nicky Newman for her wisdom and guidance.  Mark Kirby has been a true mate for 12 years and I know that won’t change.

"In short, I would like to thank everyone who has been part of something very special - you all know who you are.  The Club should go on being family orientated and it should belong to the people and town of Gosport.  I will continue coming to watch a few games and will complete a big circle by returning to being just a supporter, which was how I started out many years ago.

"But I haven’t gone just yet.  Let’s enjoy the rest of the season and when the time does come to say goodbye, there won’t be anyone more upset than me, but life moves on.  Thank you."
