U8s red in comfortable friendly win
Published: 16 August 2007

Going into the first of three pre-season friendlies, Gosport U8s reds fielded a strong squad with only three players missing for their game with AFC Portchester.

After a great start, Portchester were unlucky with a great counter attack seeing Wil Miller’s shot being partially stopped and Jack Gillan running in to score the opening goal.

The second goal was a repeat of the first with Wil’s shot being parried away for Jack to score his second.

The Porchester’s 'keeper pulled of a string of fine saves as Boro’s midfield put the defence under pressure with a great start for Boro' newcomer Owen Cripps.  Jamie Winter scored a great individual goal with a weaving run from the half way line but Portchester dominated the rest of the half and scored a fine goal in the bottom corner after a strong half from Boro' keeper Zach Robinson.

The second half showed a midfield domination for Boro' with two goals from Ben Duffin set up by Matthew Boudier and Ben Braithwaite.

Boro’s defence played it part with a fine performance from Rhys Walmsley who scored and Jamie Winter who finished the game with a hat-trick.

With the final score 8-1 to Boro, Portchester should be praised for there determination and work rate.
