Two axed from first team squad
Published: 18 January 2008

Both Matt Jones and Kevin Gill left the Club last night following discussions with Alex Pike and the management team.

Jones' departure was by mutual consent with the ex-Cirencester Town and Winchester City man accepting his future lay away from Privett Park.

However, Gill's departure will come as a surprise to many.  Gill was the first player Alex Pike signed from his previous club Hamworthy United and was seen by many as one of Pike's favourites.

But following a disagreement between Gill and Pike over Club policy last night, Pike felt he had no option but to release the Dorset-based midfielder.  It is understood that a number of Wessex League club's have already shown an interest.
