Match report: U8s 'red' v Gosport FC and Gosport Falcons
Published: 18 September 2007

Gosport Borough U8 reds had a double of friendlies this week taking on Gosport FC on Thursday then Gosport Falcons on Sunday.

Thursday's game saw an evenly matched game with Gosport FC dominating the first half and deserved to go 1-0 up after a mix up in the Boro' penalty area.

Boro’s defence of Rhys Walmsley and Matthew Pritchard performed well and soaked up a lot of early pressure which resulted with Matthew receiving man of the match for his first half display.

The Boro’s midfield trio of Jack Gillien, Owen Cripps and Wil Miller found the going tough against a strong FC display.

The second half was a complete turnaround with Boro dominating the play only for Ben Duffin to be thwarted by an impressive FC goalkeeping display on more than one occasion.

Boro drew level with a fine corner kick from Jamie Winter that crept in at the front post.

Daniel Toon and Matthew Boudier kept the FC midfield pinned down for long periods of the game and second half man of the match Ben Braithwaite and Zach Robinson mopped up any FC runs.

Gosport FC manager Gary Clark awarded Ben Duffin manager's man of the match.

Boro's second game against Gosport Falcons saw a very close encounter with the sides evenly matched throughout the game.

Boro’s first half defence of Jamie Winter and Matthew Pritchard were solid across the back and were unlucky when Callum Smith sneaked through with Falcons opener.

Boro' fought back and were unlucky when first half man of the match Will Miller hit the crossbar and Jamie Winter had a shot knocked of the line.

Jack Gillien was a handful for Falcons on the left side popping in some great crosses but the Falcons defence kept out Owen Cripps on more than one occasion.

Boro' stepped up a gear in the second half and dominated the Midfield with second half man of the match Matthew Boudier and Kyle Thornhill both going close if not for some great goalkeeping from the Falcons 'keeper.

Daniel Toon put in a great performance stopping any midfield breaks and linked well with the Boro' defence of Rhys Walmsley and Ben Braithwaite.

Boro' equalised with a great combination play with the Boro' midfield and Ben Duffin was there with a great shot to the top right corner.

Falcons were unlucky not to win as Boro' pushed for the winner towards the end and twice they were stopped by Boro' goalkeeper Zach Robinson on a one and one situation.

Gosport Falcons manager Gary Dawson awarded Ben Duffin managers man of the match.
