More success for U14s
Published: 27 June 2007

Hot on the heels of their success in the Felpham Tournament, Boro's under 14s have lifted the Pickwick Youth Tournament title.

With two teams entered for the U14 age group Borough were well represented and both teams put in strong performances.

The two sides unfortunately met in the first game of the day - Boro's B team running out 2–0 winners.

In their next game the A team played a superb match to hold a very strong Pickwick side to a goalless draw and should have pinched it with several goal mouth scrambles.  Boro' B stormed to a 4-0 win over Purbrook Youth with skipper Andy Hill getting a hat trick.

The A team then struggled against the appalling conditions and only the lack of finishing kept them out of the running despite some excellent football played by the whole squad especially the creative Josh Stirling, the powerful James Shreves who made his debut as captain and Sam Jennings who finished top scorer with some deadly finishing.

But for the B team there was no looking back.  They won every game until a last minute own goal in the last match - the only goal conceded all day.

With the weather dictating that only five matches could be played, Borough B were well ahead and deservedly took the winners medals.

The winning squad; Harry Kelly, Andy Hill, Jon Start, Jordan Sullivan, Grant Brown, Kyle Laing and James Sawyer.
