Match report: U8s 'red' v Meon

After a long wait Boro'’s first league game saw them line up against a formidable Meon Milton side.
Meon Milton scored within minutes of the start with a great shot to the bottom corner coming off the post after great passing play. After the first goal Boro' started chasing the game and dominated a lot of the play only to be thwarted by a good Meon Milton defence.
First half Man of the Match Jack Gillen caused problems on the left hand side of the pitch and linked well with Ben Duffin and Rhys Walmsley. Meon’s second goal came after a great breakaway and a good finish being one on one with the Boro'' keeper. Meon’s third goal of the half was unlucky for a good Boro' defence of Jamie Winter and Matthew Pritchard as a shot was deflected past the keeper.
The Second half was not unsimilar in play to the first with Boro' dominating a lot of the play, but Boro' had the bit between there teeth and chased everything. This pressure secured Boro''s first goal with an excellent strike to the top corner from Matthew Boudier after Daniel Toon battled his way through the Meon Milton Defence and lay on the pass for Matthew.
The pressure kept coming from Boro' which saw the second goal come from Jamie Winter with a good strike creep in at the front post. Meon really came at Boro'' as the score was now 3-2 and Meon where unlucky twice if not for some great saves from Zach Robinson and some great defensive play from Ben Braithwaite and Jamie Winter.
Rhys Walmsley came on for a injured Daniel Toon and set up Boro''s third goal for Second Half Man of the Match Ben Duffin to level the score at 3 – 3. Boro' were unlucky not to win the game in the dying minutes when Zach Robinson’s goal kick cleared the Meon Milton team to leave Ben Duffin one and one with the keeper. The bounce of the ball beat Ben as the shot crept over the bar.
The U8 Reds should feel very proud of the way they battled and came back from 3-0 down.
