A good performance from Boro saw their best league result of the season to date at Moneyfields. Both teams started strongly with Boro getting the upper hand. The next attack forced a good defensive clearance from Callum Ransley, giving Moneyfields their first corner of the game. Boro cleared their lines well and some solid if not frantic defending from Boro saw them soak up a period of sustained pressure.

A fierce shot on the 20 minute mark saw Sam Jeram make a great save, parrying the ball away for Kieran Dowell to run out of defence starting a move that rewarded Boro with a corner, and giving the Boro keeper time to shake the sting from his hands.

A substitution saw Alex Gill replace Bradley Murray on 23 minutes, and another good move from Boro saw some excellent passing set Luke Callen free on the right, his darting run and penetrating cross, which split the Moneyfields defence, was met by Alex Gill who fired home with his first touch of the game to give Boro the lead.

Moneyfields squandered their possession from the restart and well weighted pass from Dan Podolski, set Luke Callen away on the right flank in almost a carbon copy of his move from two minutes earlier. Again his cross raked the Moneyfields defence but Alex Gill’s poaching instincts failed him as he was left flat footed as the ball went out of play, and the Whistle blew for the end of the half.
