Match report: U8s 'blue' v AFC
Portchester 'green' Boro' started confident after having beaten Portchester on their own ground earlier in the season. With training still taking place despite the bad recent weather, Boro' were fired up with some new skills learnt from the training ground. The first half saw an evenly matched game with The Boro' playing an excellent passing game - probably their best to date. Iwan Crofts proving to be vital in the midfield with some superb passing, skill and pace around the pitch. Iwan and Sam Vial’s work with second to top goal scorer Riley Braggington proved too much for Porchester and with the three of them combining skill with passing and Riley scored a superb opener to the game. Portchester game back with vengeance, putting a few shots at our ever safe excellent keeper Jake Grant, but Jake keeping them out. Harry Strowger and Ryan Llewelyn played a massive game in defence, with Harry remaining strong in the box and Ryan playing up the field and back again to defend. This was Ryan's best ever game for The Boro'. However, the inevitable happened and Portchester's work rate caught our defence off guard and they equalized. The second half saw the usual players turn around and Portchester just couldn't keep up with the pace - although they did play very well indeed. Chelsie Hay and Thomas Smith worked very well together and played a very strong defence, almost unbeatable throughout the second half. The odd ball that passed through them was again saved by Jake. Thomas was another player to play his best game ever for The Boro'. Drew Warner, our top scorer and second half striker, played a fantastic game - shot after shot after shot against a very strong Portchester keeper. Eventually the hard work from Ethan Brady in the midfield and help from Harry who tried his hand at midfield along with Riley, provided Drew with yet another goal. Final score: Gosport Borough 'blue' 2-1 AFC Porchester 'green' Man of the Match Harry Strowger
