U8 'blues' support England U21s at St Mary's

The U8s pose in front of the England team coachOn Tuesday evening, the Boro' U8s 'blue' team all got in a minibus and headed for St. Mary's Stadium in Southampton to cheer on England U21s in their UEFA U21 2009 Championship qualifier against the Republic of Ireland U21s.

The team enjoyed complimentary tickets courtesy of the Football Association and arrived early enough to enjoy the atmosphere around the ground - a good move as it turned out because the U8s minibus arrived at the same time as the England team coach and the lads were able to see the team disembarking.  A great thrill for them and the parents - especially Diane!

After much negotiation, the security guards allowed the team next to the specially designed England coach for a team photo.  Then, when inside the ground, the youngsters looked on from pitchside as the England and Ireland team warmed up thinking that'll be us one day (and I'm sure it will).

We had cracking seats and The Boro' gave much support for their England team, waving flags, shouting, shouting some more and shouting some more and having a great time!  Even Riley took his top off in celebration of the goals (without a yellow card!).

All in all, The Boro' had a fantastic night watching the England U21's win 3-0 and spirits remained high all the way back to a dark and rainy Gosport.
