Match report: U8s 'red' v East Lodge
'blue' The early morning rain did not stop the midday kick off with Boro' playing away at East Lodge. With both teams observing a minutes silence for Remembrance Sunday the game was underway. Boro' were straight in the thick of it with great midfield pressure coming from Matthew Boudier and Rhys Warmsley. The East Lodge defence were struggling with the pace of the Boro' midfield and this resulted with the opening goal for Gosport. First half man of the match Jack Gillen fought his way into a tightly packed penalty area to sneak one past the East Lodge keeper. The rest of the half was an end to end battle with The Boro' going close on a further four occasions - if not for some great saves from the East Lodge keeper. But it was Boro's keeper Zach Robinson who saved Boro' with two fine one handed saves. Boro's first half defence of Jamie Winter and Matthew Pritchard kept their cool and blocked many of the East Lodge runs to finish the first half 1-0 up. The second half saw two substitutions with Ben Duffin replacing Jack Gillen in midfield and Owen Cripps replace Matthew Boudier in the midfield. This proved the turning point for Boro' as the midfield took hold of the game. New signing Owen Cripps got his first goal for The Boro' with a great ball played through from Ben Duffin. Ben himself was unlucky with a fine save from the East Lodge keeper. The midfield then played a great passing play to set up Rhys Warmsley who thundered a goal into the East Lodge goal for Boro to go 3-0 up. Matthew
Boudier replaced Matthew Pritchard in the Boro' defence and played a vital
role alongside Jamie Winter in an East Lodge onslaught in the last ten
minutes of the second half. East Lodge's manager awarded Zach Robinson Manager's Man of the Match
