Match report: U10s 'A' v Travaux 'A'
Published: 14 February 2008

Both teams started well but it was Boro' who won a corner in the first two minutes but nothing came of it.  Travaux had a corner at the other end after five minutes and it could have resulted in a goal but for the timely challenge by defender Callum Ransley.

Travaux hit both posts in a frantic 15 minute spell and again Callum Ransley kept his team in the game with some excellent tackles.  Curtis Matjeka fought hard in midfield and Alex Gill (AJ) played his part in between Boro's posts with some good saves.

Dan Podolski came on as a sub after 20 minutes and his impact was almost immediate with a shot saved by the Travaux keeper.  Brad Murray had a shot pushed wide on 23 minutes by the on-form Travaux goalie.

The game changed to ping-pong a minute later as a cross from the right the ball seemed to bounce of everyone in the box, the post and the cross bar before Boro's Stan Osborne put his shot wide of the left hand upright.

On the stroke of half time Boro' looked certain to score after a darting run down the right by defender Kieran Dowell resulted in a pass straight across the Travaux goal where a stretching Sam Jeram was unable to make contact.

Boro' rang the changes in the second half with Kieran Cole and Luke Callen coming on as subs.  Their impact was immediate when on 27 minutes an excellent cross by Stan Osborne was just a little too high for Luke in the box.

A superb throw by Kieran Cole on 32 minutes was flicked on by Luke only for the volleyed shot from Dan Podolski to fly over the bar.  Dan and Stan teamed up on minutes later for Boro' only to see Stan's shot go wide.

On 39 minutes Luke took the ball off the feet of a Travaux player and ran half the pitch to take on the Travaux goalie.  The goalkeeper to his credit made himself big and blocked the shot - though maybe a pass to Stan on the right wing would have been the better option as the goalkeeper was out of position.

Both teams fought hard to try and make the breakthrough.  Travaux's keeper played an excellent game and kept his side in with a shout of winning.  Boro's Callum Ransley did the same and thoroughly deserved his man of the match award.
