Match report: U8s 'red' v AFC Portchester 'blue'
Published: 15 October 2007

AFC Portchester were quickest out of the blocks at the start of the game as Boro' conceded an early own goal after a Portchester cross was redirected at the far post.

Boro' re-started well after the early goal with some great midfield domination from Jack Gillen and Ben Duffin.  But it was Rhys Walmsley who equalised for The Boro' with a great low shot beating the Portchester 'keeper.

Portchester took over the game from there and commanded the rest of the first half and deserved to go 2-1 up after the Boro' defence failed to clear a Portchester attack.

Portchester should have had a further two goals if not for some great saves from the first half man of the match Zach Robinson.

The second half saw first half defender Matthew Boudier move to the left wing and Matthew Pritchard took his place alongside Jamie Winter at the back.  This proved unsettling for the Portchester team with Matthew Boudier making some great runs down the wing to set up Rhys Walmsley for his second goal of the game.

Boro' took their foot of the gas and Portchester took advantage of this with some great passing plays which set up their third goal after a defensive mix-up in the Boro' box.

Ben Braithwaite came into defence after an injury to Matthew Pritchard and Boro' again had the bit between there teeth.  A driving run from Jamie Winter set up second half man of the match Rhys Walmsley for his hattrick.

With only a few minutes on the clock left Boro' conceded a late goal to give Portchester the victory.

Manager's man of the match was awarded to Jamie Winter.
