Match report: U8s 'Blue' v Meon
Milton 'A' Boro Under 8's were looking forward playing the undefeated Meon Milton 'A' side to repay the 7-0 beating they gave us at the start of the season. With a training session the day before, The Boro' looked good and were confident that they could beat the league leaders. Then disaster struck! With sickness ruling players out the morning of the game, the Boro' were a defender short and more importantly, keeper-less! Ryan Llewellyn stepped bravely into the keeper's job and did a fantastic job. Early nerves were soon gone and Ryan made some fantastic saves against a strong Meon Milton attack. The first half saw Meon dominate play with five goals coming from truly magnificent play and passing moves. The score does not do justice however to the good play from the Boro' youngsters. Thomas Smith played the game of his life in defence along with a strong Ethan Brady who made some cracking breakaways and Riley Braggington played an excellent game at striker again - taking a few shots at the keeper. The second half was a different story with Boro' dominating the majority of play. However the shots just didn't get past the 'keeper, with Sam Vials and Iwan Crofts dominating the midfield and playing excellent football. Drew Warner, once again played a very strong game at striker scoring our only goal. Once again, I can say as a manager, it was a pleasure to play Meon Milton. They have a very high standard of football and the team, managers and families are the friendliest we have seen where the emphasis is firmly placed on the children enjoying football. Final score: Gosport Borough 'Blue' 1 Meon Milton 'A' 5 Boro' man of the match: Ryan Llewelyn |
