After a
week’s delay due to the bad weather, Boro' were eager to get going on a
frosty morning against a highly respected United Service’s team.
Boro' definitely showed there eagerness when Rhys Warmsley got the game underway with a goal after three minutes after a lovely three pass movement with Matthew Boudier and first half man of the match Jack Gillen.
United Services then found another gear and took the game under control putting a lot of pressure on the Boro' defence of Jamie Winter and Reece Patterson. This was Reece's first League outing since joining the Boro' in November and he acquitted himself well.
United Services equalised when a cross failed to be cleared and crept in at the back post but Boro' then went 2-1 up after another great passing play split the United Services defence and Rhys grabbed his second.
United Services finished the second half with a flourish and grabbed the equaliser after a long range shot deflected of a Boro' defender.
The second half saw three substitutions with Ben Duffin replacing Jack Gillend and Owen Cripps replacing Matthew Boudier in the midfield and Matthew Pritchard replace Reece Patterson in defence.
This half saw a revitalised Boro' team with many chances being created by Owen Cripps in the Boro' midfield only to be thwarted by some great saves by the United Services keeper.
Boro' were unlucky ten minutes into the half when another long range shot deflected to take United Services to 3-2 up.
Boro' then pushed forward for the equaliser and was caught a few times napping but second half man of the match Zach Robinson make some great saves to keep Boro' in the game.
Boro's determination was rewarded with a great goal from Ben Duffin three minutes from time. The Boro' defensive duo of Matthew Pritchard and Jamie Winter then locked United Services out to see the game through to the end.
