Match report: U14s 'B' v Widbrook 'B'
Published: 18 December 2007

This was Boro's first game in three weeks due to the previous two matches being cancelled because of the bad weather, so we were feeling a bit rusty.  Plus the fact that most of the squad were suffering with heavy colds and the goalkeeper was away on holiday - this match could have been a bit of a banana skin for us.

This was not the case though as Boro' dominated the match from start to finish.  Gosport immediately bossed the middle of the park and got the ball up to the strikers who started to make a real impact on the game.  Both Matt Bialas and Paul Winter terrorised the Widbrook defence with good movement in the box and some wicked shots.  Bialas soon made it one nil to Boro' with a well taken shot and Winter made it two-nil just before half time.

The second half started the same as the first half finished with Borough surging forward.  A well worked corner saw centre back Pete Sillence make it 3-0 with a cheeky tap in at the near post.

Left winger Jack Samways was giving the Widbrook defence a torrid time with his forward runs and it was only a matter of time before a fourth goal came along.  James Drage picked up the ball in midfield and darted forward, weaving through four of the opposition before expertly placing the ball into the back of the net.

A long ball caught out the Boro' defence, who had otherwise been outstanding, and Widbrook scored their only goal of the game.

Substitute Jake Stevens wrapped up the game for Gosport with a great shot after Matt Bialas had burst into the box and laid it off to him.

Final score : Widbrook 1 Gosport Borough 5

Man of the match was shared between Pete Sillence and Robert Carns who were both excellent .
