Match report: U15s v Moneyfields
Published: 26 September 2007

Gosport Borough gained their first points of the new season against a hardworking Moneyfields.

With a strong wind behind them dictating play Borough pushed forward but it was Moneys who had the first real chance on goal just shooting wide from a break.

For the first half an hour things were even with good chances for both sides. A substitution for Gosport saw eventual man of the match James Sawyer score his first with an alert follow up to a long shot that Moneys keeper could only parry out.

Five minutes later the goal of the match saw a brilliant Borough move from deep in their own half played out by James Shreves, flicked on by Tom Copeland and a superb through ball from the powerful Kris Atherton found James Sawyer on the left who took one touch then chipped the advancing keeper.

Second half saw the excellent Tom Snell score almost straight from the kick off. Jordan Sullivan’s long ball forward not cleared giving Tom the chance to pounce and despite a desperate goal line clearance attempt the ball ended up in the roof of the net.

Moneys were not giving up though and saw them push more and more forward. They got their reward half way through the half after a goalmouth scramble to pull one back but Borough scored immediately from the kick off with the superb Tom Copeland with an excellent finish into the corner.

Moneys pulled one more back with a determined effort which saw a wicked deflection of the strong Jon Start send keeper Harry Kelly the wrong way.

Final score: Gosport Borough 4 Moneyfields 2
