Match report: U8s 'red' v Meon

It has been a long layoff for the U8 Reds with this being their first league game of the year but this did not stop the eager Boro' reds going up against a very formidable Meon Milton side who themselves had only lost one league game.
The first five minutes was a six man game with both midfields battling against the muddy pitch and themselves! First half man of the match Rhys Walmsley and Matthew Boudier caused problems down both wings as Boro' found another gear and many hours on the training ground paid off with some superb passing play with all Boro's midfield going close to scoring - if not for some excellent goalkeeping by the Meon Milton keeper.
The deadlock was broken when a Meon Milton cross was diverted and wrong footed the Boro' keeper Zach Robinson. Boro' defenders Jamie Winter and Reece Patterson then locked Meon Milton out until the end of the half.
The second half saw two substitutions with Matthew Pritchard replacing Reece Patterson in defence and Ben Duffin replace Rhys Walmsley in the midfield. This proved unsettling for Meon Milton and Boro' were rewarded when Ben Duffin crossed for Matthew Boudier to fire one in at the back post.
Boro' then pushed for the winner with Jack Gillen leading the charge with all the midfield going close if not for some great goalkeeping.
Boro's second half man of the match Matthew Pritchard and Jamie Winter proved hard to beat at the heart of the Boro' defence but keeper Zach Robinson was unlucky in the dying minutes when a Meon Milton break saw a shot rebound in of his far post.
