Match report: U8s 'blues' v Gosport Falcons
Published: 30 April 2008

This was the third friendly this season between the two teams - Boro' winning the previous two 12-1 and 5-1.

The two managers agreed that the teams should try seven-a-side in preparation for moving up from six-a-side.

As the game started, Boro' looked nervous as the Falcons looked their strongest yet but some great passing moves came good with Riley Braggington scoring the opening goal for Boro'.

Boro' then saw how good the Falcons were when they passed their way around the pitch, beating our defence and equalising.

From then on the game was very even with both teams playing excellently and both sides keeper's being well and truly tested.

Chelsie Haye and Harry Strowger played blinders in defence and also showed their talents in midfield.  Ryan Llewellyn and Jake Grant both played magnificently in goal and also on the pitch.  Iwan Crofts battled the centre midfield throughout the game and kept feeding the ball to the striker and other midfield players.

The second half saw Ethan Brady scoring a scorcher from excellent midfield play and then Riley popped up with a third.

Drew Warner was his usual strong self, just unlucky from not putting a goal in today which is unusual for Drew but even he has to have a break from scoring!  Still both teams were very even - it was just the fact that Boro's shots turned to goals and the Falcons seemed unlucky there.

Then things turned for the worse for Falcons when what looked like an own goal went in (claimed by Thomas Smith) making the final score 4-1.

This was a tough game against the Falcons, who have gone from strength to strength.  The scoreline probably didn't justify the Falcons strong play.

The man of the match went to Chelsie Haye who tackled time after time in defence and also proved that she could play just as well in the midfield.

Final score Boro' 4 Falcons 1
