Match report: U8s 'red' v Cowplain Youth
Published: 31 October 2007

The wind and the rain did not look to dampen the spirits of Boro' after a midweek friendly win over Gosport Falcons but they were up against a newly formed team.

The first five minutes was a six man game with both midfields battling against the elements and themselves!  The Boro' then found another gear and many hours on the training ground paid off with some superb passing play with all Boro’s midfield going close to scoring if not for some excellent goalkeeping by the Cowplain keeper.

The deadlock was broken with a textbook passing play with Matthew Boudier creating the run down the left wing then into the middle for Jack Gillen who side passed for Rhys Warmsley to come running in with an unstoppable low drive into the corner.

The rest of the half was dominated with the ball being firmly stuck in the Cowplain half with both Boro' defenders Jamie Winter and Matthew Pritchard creating the runs for the Boro' midfielders.

Rhys Warmsley bagged two more goals before the half for his hattrick (his second in two games) for The Boro'.

The second half saw three substitutions with Ben Braithwaite replacing Matthew Pritchard in defence and Daniel Toon and Ben Duffin replace Jack Gillen and Matthew Boudier in the midfield.  This proved unsettling for Cowplain and an early goal was conceded with an excellent run and shot from Ben Duffin hit the top corner of the net.

Ben then proceeded himself to bag a hattrick with the whole team contributing with some great passing play.

Boro' took their foot of the gas and conceded a penalty when a Cowplain cross glanced of a Boro' arm.  Boro' keeper Zach Robinson was unlucky after saving the penalty only to see the ball go in off the post.

Cowplain then threw everything forward and got caught when Ben Duffin chipped a ball over the top to see Rhys Warmsley get his fourth goal of the game with a great run from the half way line.

Rhys Warmsley was awarded the first half man of the match award with Ben Duffin awarded the second half man of the match award.
