It’s rare these days to meet a real genuine guy and I might add even more so in football circles.
So it’s with that as a backcloth we affirm our gratitude, affection and appreciation of just such a guy …Mark Summerhill.
From the day we came in contact to the days right up until now and knowing him for the foreseeable future, he’s transitioned from Pat & Joe’s minder sorry mentor, to football operations manager and then into assistant manager and most importantly for him a place on the bench where as he often states he ‘feels so privileged to be part of the team’ By the way we’re still trying to sort him a replica FA coaching badge in the right colours!
Alas due to a cocktail of challenges primarily his interminable travel from Heathrow airport via his home in West Sussex and then onto the club where he rarely misses a session and is often first in and last out he’s even been known to sleep here(?) sounds exhausting even to explain and has simply proved a bridge too far after 3 years of loyal dedication.
As a consequence Mark is leaving us and has been offered the perfect slot for him closer to home working with an old school friend and no doubt bar companion whilst, sitting on the bench as part of the team. What’s not to like. Just hope they’ve got a dartboard about the place for Lucie.
So it’s bon voyage Mark (and Lucie) not adieu, we will miss you a great deal and we know that feeling is mutual. We know you’re looking forward to a return to the AEI for a cup tie so we’ll keep the beds made up.
All the Best Mark
