Simon Lane Appointed First Team Manager

Club Announcement

The Club are delighted to announce, that Simon Lane is the new manager of Gosport Borough Football Club, and we are very pleased to welcome him.

Following an extensive search rightly below the radar, led by the GBFC Board, we can confirm the appointment of Simon, the outstanding candidate in a distinguished short list of candidates. The Chairman applied but didn’t make the cut!

We compete in what’s generally considered the most combative league in the pyramid and one that’s plausibly fuelled the interminable financial arms race more than any other. The determination to remain competitive is a given…the manner in which we do so is the challenge.

The combined objectives of your Club being competitive whist remaining sustainable for the long term is a responsibility that carries as much weight as it requires nous and that’s why Simon is here.

Demonstrating real maturity in demeanour and strategy, steeped in coaching qualifications from league academies through the echelon of non league football levels and the burning desire to keep achieving, are all qualities we saw and were glad to invest in. He understands the ‘proof is in the pudding’ otherwise the custard pie adorns the face and so let’s just get on with things rather than further talk shall we.

Expect numerous announcements over the next few weeks which will show intent, direction of travel and for you our supporters …the lifeblood and sole reason for being here, some much needed excitement in these afflicted times.

You’ll be hearing from Simon very soon, be sure to lend him that insatiable and vital encouragement as he strives to take us forward.

A very warm welcome to the BORO’ Simon
