Find out a bit more about our opponents on Saturday

Founded: 1971
League: Wessex League Premier Division
Manager: David Carter

AFC Portchester was established in 1971, originally named as Loyds Sports, and entered Division Six of the City of Portsmouth Sunday League. After a series of name changes and successes in Sunday League football, Portchester in 1998 were accepted into the Hampshire League Division Three.

Portchy’s success didn’t stop there earning two successive promotions and becoming Division One champions in 2002, however they were unable to take promotion to the Wessex League due to lack of floodlights. The following season there were significant developments off the field as the club merged with Castle Royals.

In 2004, Portchester finally entered the Wessex League as a founding member of the new third division and three years later earned promotion to Division One. In the 2010/11 the club were able to secure their place in Wessex League Premier Division after finishing runner’s up.

Portchester now have ambitions of becoming a Southern League club with their new manager David Carter. The former Moneyfields manager has brought in plenty of talent including former Boro’ players George Barker, Rudy Plummer and Liam Robinson.
