Tonight saw the Under 23s side kick off a brand new season in front of 150+ fans. Going into the game, Hamble were the only side last season yet to be defeated by Gosport- a record in which Boro were looking to change.
The young Gosport side dominated the opening stages of the game, with chances falling to Brad Lethbridge and Mino Djaura just off target.
This early Gosport dominance carried on throughout the entirety of the first half. 18 Year old Alfie Stringer saw his shot go narrowly over the bar, with more and more chances going a miss.
The two sides entered the break level, despite all the opportunities to open the scoring for Boro.
Straight out of half time, and Boro continued to dominate. Young Alfie Stringer forced a Hamble defender into a mistake, with the ball being played across the box to Bradley Lethbridge who saw his shot somehow saved by the Hamble keeper.
Swiftly after this Hamble hit Boro on the counter attack, with a combination of defensive errors from the inexperienced side allowing Hamble to open the scoring.
Despite going a goal down, Gosport continued to push on in search of an equalising goal.
Multiple chances were continuously met by great saves from the keeper.
Another defensive error from a Hamble corner saw the lead doubled, giving Gosport little-to-no hope in a comeback.
Despite a result looking out of reach, Boro pushed to try and gain something from the fixture. Nathan Watkins was set up in the middle of the Hamble box, and was able to pull one back for Gosport.
Despite this late effort the Under 23s were unable to find an equaliser, losing their first game of the season.
Next up for the Under 23s is Romsey Town away on Tuesday night.
