BORO’ make it back-to-back wins to start pre-season, following a comprehensive display against step 4 Littlehampton.
The deadlock was broken at ‘The Sportsfield’ nine minutes into the game. Michael Fernandes inside the penalty area, cooly slotted home to make it 1-0 to BORO’.
Goal number two came when a quick-set piece was taken, working onto Trevor Caborn down the right channel. Taking on his defender and cutting outside saw the winger lay a cross in, via the passage of the byline. Dan Wooden managed to get himself onto the end of it; striking home for his hat-trick of pre-season goals.
The assist maker nearly turned goalscorer when Ethan Taylor on the twenty-fifth minute mark, lifted a cross over the Littlehampton backline for Caborn to run onto. The ex-Winchester forward scooped his shot over the keeper from twenty yards out. The keeper may have been beaten but the crossbar kept it out.
Half-Time: Littlehampton 0-2 Gosport
Rafael Ramos, who netted four in last pre-season fixture against Horndean, was brought on as a substitute at half time. It took him just three minutes to get on the goal sheet. Starting from Ryan Hall in goal, the Nu1 launched a clearance away into the centre circle which was smartly flicked on by ‘Trialist C’ (Wore the 18 shirt), with Ramos pouncing on the pass, taking it to the opposition penalty box after a ten yard sprint. Cutting to his left-foot, Ramos kept his composure to find the back of the net.
Arguably Littlehampton’s best opportunity came through a short corner worked onto their Nu16. Right of the centre, outside the penalty box. Lining up a shot, it wasn’t actually too far from being a goal, just a few inches high.
Trialist ‘A’ (Wore the 19 Shirt) was instrumental in our penultimate chance. After being fed a ball in the right pocket, the full back placed a pass to Rafael Ramos, right of the six-yard box. The goalscorer attempted a one-two, but a deflection overturned it to Ethan Taylor who passed it back to the Trialist. Unfortunately the Nu19 looked to have leaned back too much when taking the shot which saw it blasted over.
To top it off after Trialist ‘D’ in space down the left, got himself onto a clearance, he worked his way up the pitch. Once in a good position he laid a fast inswinging pass, smartly left by Ramos and falling to Trialist ‘E’ (Wore 22). A cool finish sore the Nu22 rifle home to make it four.
Full-Time: Littlehampton 0-4 Gosport
Another display which I’m sure Glenn and Danny will be happy with. We now wait until the 18th when we travel to Steyning, so we’ll see you there. But final words from me: UP THE BORO!!!
