Gosport Borough 6 - 1 Bracknell Town

Match Report by James McIntosh

A cold night, but Gosport were on fire, after beating Bracknell 6-1.

Ethan Taylor, Rafael Ramos and Luke cook all bag braces in today’s emphatic display.

After loosing 4-3 to Basingstoke at the weekend after a late Stoke’ comeback, Gosport were searching for their first win under newly appointed manager Glenn Howes.

As for the visitors’ they have had a troubling start to the season. Sitting rock bottom of the league, however managed to pick up a point away to Chertsey on the weekend.

Gosport managed to take the early lead in this game through Rafael Ramos. Benny Read down the left channel crossed a ball into the Portuguese striker at the back post. Ramos made good contact with the ball, nodding home to open the scoring.

Bracknell did respond to going down by finding an equaliser just before the twenty minute mark. The expiernced Joe Grant was fed a through ball, sending him in a one-on-one against Hall. Grant stabbed a shot into the far corner to level the scores.

Ten minutes before the break Gosport were given a penalty for a handball inside the robins’ box. Having missed his last penalty, it was Ethan Taylor once again stepping up to take the set-piece. BORO’s leading goalscorer kept his composure from twelve yards, driving a low-hard shot into the bottom right corner to restore the lead.

Half-time | Gosport Borough 2-1 Bracknell Town.

The hosts’ started the second interval in excellent fashion when Ben Greenwood delivered a free-kick towards the back post. A stretched Joe Morrison kept it in on the byline as well as passing it across into Luke Cook who tapped home from close range, for his first league goal for Gosport.

In quick succession Gosport made it four. Taylor capitalised off of a sloppy pass and fed a pass into an open Ramos. The latter drove a shot into an open net to extended our lead.

Rafa even had a chance to get his hat-trick on eighty minutes when Gosport were awarded a penalty. Rafa stood up but had his penalty saved by Oualah after the former Farnham-man got down low to make the stop.

This miss didn’t deter Ramos too much as he continued to cause havoc down the left before pulling a pass back into Taylor, who backheeled it into Luke Cook, as the Gosport Nu18 smashed home for his second!

The cherry on top was when Gosport were awarded another penalty, yes another, in the first minute of added time. Ethan Taylor hammered it into the bottom corner to make it six!
