Uxbridge go seven unbeaten to win at Gosport.
The first opportunity in this one came when Jordan Ngalo’s right footed cross met Michael Fernandes inside the area and his overhead kick forced a save from Underwood. Ben Greenwood got on to the rebound and from the byeline fizzed a pass across the area but no Gosport player was able to get on the end of it.
Ten minutes later BORO’ nearly capitalised from a smart corner, a low hit pass picked out Brad Tarbuck just outside the area. The Gosport winger took aim at goal but a rising shot flew over.
It was Uxbridge however who broke the deadlock with the reds’ talisman Lawal playing in Prior-Tack who kept his composure in front of goal, sliding a shot past Thomas to go ahead.
The lead should have been doubled, when Lawal again broke into the Gosport box before going for goal. Jordan Stepney managed to intercept the shot, deflecting the ball onto the crossbar in a heart in mouth moment.

Uxbridge did manage to double their lead five minutes into the second half when an attack from the away side resulted with Okine-Peters firing at goal. Joe Morrison went sliding in to block the effort, but the referee blew and pointed to the spot after claiming the defender used his arm in blocking it. Perez-Duah from the spot powerfully arrowed into the bottom right corner which squeezed past Thomas who dived the right way but couldn’t get a hand to it, giving Perez-Duah his fourth goal in his last three games.
Gosport did start to build some momentum on sixty minutes when Hisham Kasimu cut inside two defenders before letting a shot fly which ultimately went too high.
Three minutes later they found a goal and a lifeline. Adam Tomasso from right of the area scooped in a ball towards the back post where Ben Greenwood rushed to get onto the end of it, side-footing into the back of the net.
The goal must have awoken Gosport as they came close to finding their equaliser almost instantly after another cross into the Uxbridge six yard area, which found substitute Dan Wooden who unfortunately couldn’t keep his headed effort under the crossbar.
Gosport did have one final opportunity to claw a late point in added time when Kasimu drove into the Uxbridge box and rifled a low-hit shot through a crowded area. Rather than one of the defenders blocking it, instead it was teammate Dan Wooden who denied the shot after mistakenly getting in the way of the effort.

This has most certainly put a dent in Gosport’s race for the playoffs, but mathematically it is still all to play for.
Up next it doesn’t get any easier with a visit to Westleigh Park on Easter Monday to take on Havant & Waterlooville, so we’ll see you then. But final words from me: UP THE BORO!!!
