Tiverton 1 - 2 Gosport - Rafa With Two Goals - All Round Team Performance

Report by James McIntosh

Gosport secure playoffs thanks to victory in Tiverton!

Everyone knew it was going to be a massive game tonight! A win for Gosport would guarantee their spot in the playoffs, as for Tiverton this was just their second midweek game all season. Where the hosts’ needed a win to push them further away from the drop…

Tiverton had the first opportunity of the half which saw a free-kick floated into Gerring. With the attacker nodding into Britton who ended up smashing one wide.

Another chance arose when Allen strode through the left channel before switching it into Rice in the BORO’ box. As the striker poked a simple shot straight down the throat of Steward.

With just over a quarter of an hour left of the half, the best chance of the game fell to Gosport. A ball flashed across the Tiverton box was met by Wooden who rushed his shot and as a result rocketed one wide from not far out.

Tensions did rise before the conclusion of the first interval with Zak Sharp receiving a yellow following a challenge on Javan.

Half-time: Tiverton 0-0 Gosport

The travelling fans couldn’t have asked for a better start in the second half, as Gosport got their goal in the 46th minute. Practically straight from kick-off, BORO’ built an attack down the right wing with a ball being fed to Ramos. Hungry for goals, Ramos slotted one home to give us the lead

Yep Rafa Ramos must have definitely been goal hungry as he got another just thirty seconds later! Striding into the Tiverton box allowed the Portuguese to place a low driven effort into the bottom left corner to make it two.

Tiverton did claw one back, following a smart through ball coming from Garside. Sending Joe Parker through on goal and giving him the striker the keys to be able to turn from Jordan, allowing the attacker to rifle his effort into the top corner to get onto the scoresheet.

Despite getting their goal and having a few game shots after, the game started to fizzle out. Even with seven minutes added on, Gosport held onto the three points with it finishing:

Full-time: Tiverton 1-2 Gosport

Thanks to the win this has mathematically confirmed our playoff spot, somewhere which we haven’t been able to reach since 2013. We have just three games left to play and everything is still up for grabs. Your support is more important than ever and final words as always: UP THE BORO!!!
