As a sixteen-year-old, Briggs was making his debut for Fulham, and playing in the Premier League - a moment the 30-year-old defender still cherishes.
“I look back and it was such a long time ago now but I always look back with such pride and joy to that moment,” he reflected.
“For me it was overwhelming to have my mum watching down on me from the stands, my grandma, and to just fullfill my dream really.”
Briggs' record of being the youngest ever Premier League player was broken a couple seasons ago when another Fulham prodigy, Harvey Elliot, played for the Cottagers beating the record by just 36 days.
The new Boro' man had nothing but praise for the young forward - now at Liverpool - and revealed a new documentary he has taken part in discussing that very moment.
“I made a documentary not long ago called my ‘Journey of Discovery’ where I said its now time for the title to come off my shoulders and pass on to the new kid on the block, I wish him all the best for the future.”
Now captain of Guyana, the towering centre-back is looking to bring success to Privett Park and is “itching to go” according to his new manager Shaun Gale.
The former Fulham, Milwall and Colchester player doesn't believe a lack of playing time this year will affect his fitness. Having just returned from a stint playing for his national side he feels ready for the new challenge ahead.
“I feel my fitness has been fine.
“I was away with my international team, Guyana in the Gold Cup.
“I was away for the World Cup qualifiers too, which was a two week trip and we had two games, then another two week trip where we played three games.
“So my fitness shouldn't be an issue. I had a two week break since coming back, but my body needed it.”
After making his first appearance for Boro’ at Horndean on Tuesday, Briggs believes he has settled in quickly with the team saying “everyone was very friendly and welcoming and I settled down very quickly”.
With the league season fast approaching Briggs is confident the club can do well this season with the blend of youth and experience key to that success.
He added: “There are a couple of lads here with experience and with that balance of youth and experience we have a good chance this year.”
