Gosport v Poole - Pre Game Thoughts

Emirates FA Cup Action At The AEI, with BORO’ welcoming everyone from Poole Town for our Second Round Qualifying Tie.

Gosport’s Mark Summerhill’s pre game thoughts

‘We’re back… at the AEI Stadium here at privet park for the second time this week.

Today brings us FA Cup action and sees us welcome old friends from Poole Town.

Poole are flying high sitting top of the SPL after an excellent start to the season, no doubt they will be looking to continue their league form and progress in the cup today.

We had a good home win on Wednesday over Wimborne and extended our unbeaten run to 3 and continue to build our foundations to really kick on from.

Let’s hope that run continues for us today for so many reasons, as I have said before, FA Cup ties whatever the round have a special magic surrounding the occasions that can only be found on FA cup day.

Financially the FA Cup brings it owns rewards and the hope of a glamour round One Tie is at the forefront of everyone’s mind…today also sees the return of two old friends who I genuinely wish well and the best of fortune, except for when we play each other, no surprise to me how they rescued Poole last season and have now pushed them to the top.

We have a few challenges following our good win on Wednesday night…Charlie Wassmer is currently unwell but will hopefully recover in time for the game, GK Ryan Hall suffered at the elbow and body of Wimborne Striker Fletcher and could be a doubt today. On top of those 2 Charlie Gunson’s knee has swollen following Wednesday nights hard thought match and he could also be a doubt.

Allthough it’s not all bad news as we see senior player Bradley Tarbuck return to the squad today.

Thanks for the tremendous support home and away each week, another fabulous 700 + crowd on a Wet Wednesday is another amazing turnout. You really do represent the club proudly and please continue to represent the club in the right manor home and away.

Thanks and regards Mark’
