Shaun Gale said that new signings Devane Boungou and Luke Hallet add a different dimension to his squad.

Boungou previously played for Blackfield & Langley during their season in the Southern League, whilst Hallet has joined on loan from Forest Green Rovers.

Gale said that Boungou will be a senior figure in a young squad.

“He is a big, strong, powerful midfielder and very good on the ball, so it gives a different dimension from what we got. We’ve got some good young players but we need that senior physicality which he gives us.”

Whilst Boungou is a senior figure Hallet is the opposite, with the Forest Green loanee only 18-years-old. Gale said though that Hallet is more than ready for the challenge of men’s football.

“I was trying to get Luke earlier but we didn’t get him in for preseason, but he came available for loan. He can play at centre-half but also at centre-forward.

“He’s a big, strong boy and is a very good footballer. I watched him play for Forest Green against Bristol Rovers and was very impressed by him.”

The signings come at a busy period for Boro with games against Chesham United at home and Hartley Witney away within the space of three days. However, Gale said that Boungou might not be ready to start straight away.

“I had him last season for one game which was the FA Trophy tie against Dorchester. I liked what I saw from him but he has only just got back into the country, so he’s a little bit short of match fitness.

“He has trained but has not had a great deal of game time. He is chomping at the bit to play but we might have to be patient, I don’t want him to get injured. He played some minutes on Monday in the U23s, which was his first game for nine months.”
