BORO’s Under 18’s secured their semi-final victory last night at the AEI after a tense penalty shoot out victory, to secure their place in the Cup Final

After the game U18’s Manager said:

‘Very proud of the lads last night. We’ve had some very tough fixtures in recent weeks with still more to come. Bodies are tired and we have a lot of injuries.

Last night we saw two very good teams going head to head. If I’m honest that should’ve been the final.

We struggled in spells in the first half but we were still fully in the game and knew we had more to give. At half time we knew we had to change something to get a result. The second half performance was excellent and probably up there with our best this season.

Penalties are always a good way to win any game of football as it gives the players that moment as a group to enjoy which is very important for their development. It’s important to understand that nothing is won yet and we still have a lot of games to go.

A result like that last night always goes a long way and we are very proud of how the group responded and performed. Some outstanding individual performances again but especially Harry Laver who saved 4 penalties in total with one coming in normal time at a key moment.

We look forward to getting back into training tonight and preparing for Cobham Sports on Sunday in a very important league game.
