It didn't take long for Gosport to find their feet in the game, despite missing Justin Bennett, Brett Poate, Rory Williams and Dan Wooden who were all out due to suspension.

David Jerrard was the first to put the ball in the net, tapping it past keeper Lloyd Thomas after just eight minutes to give the home side the lead.

Keeping Portchester on their toes, Boro’ were awarded a penalty that stand in captain Adam Wilde (pictured) struck quickly, sending Thomas the wrong way and putting Gosport 2-0 up.

Joe Noakes fought back for the away side, sliding the ball past Nathan Ashmore after a scrap in the box for the ball.

Adam Brice worked well in defence, clearing the ball cleanly on many an occasions and leaving George Barker with plenty of space on the wing – a thorn in the visitor’s side.

Ten minutes before the break, Thomas came out of his goal to challenge Rowan Vine but the Gosport newcomer showed the keeper his skills as he sped past him and fired the ball into the open net.

The visitors came back stronger in the second half but couldn't keep Lee Wort or his replacement Steve Ramsey at bay for long - both having shots on goal in quick succession.

On the hour mark, George Barker showed quick feet - dribbling around several players and putting the ball in the net.

Andy Robinson made his first appearance of the season, returning from his foot injury and replacing Vine.

Ramsey had two quick fire shots with 20 minutes to go but it was Barker with the final goal of the game - a curved shot from the edge of the area that the opposing keeper had no chance of stopping.
