Gosport's hopes of a place in the Hampshire Senior Cup semi-finals disappeared at the hands of a exciting AFC Bournemouth Development team who made light work of beating a depleted Boro' side.
Alex Pike is having little joy at the moment and had to do without seven first choice players due to a lethal mix of injury, unavailability and cup tied new signings.
Ben Harding, Brett Poate, Josh Carmichael, Richie Whittingham, Ramone Rose, Nick Jordan were all absent while Ben Wright and Scott Walters were rested but featured as unused substitutes.
The team sent out to face the young Cherries was quickly dismantled by a slick, hungry outfit who made it look all too easy on a bitterly cold night at the Aerial Direct Stadium.
A fairly quiet opening quarter of a hour was ended with the first real chance of this County Cup tie falling to the Cherries. The lively Sam Surridge squared the ball across the face of the Gosport box, evading Green who was unable to connect. Green’s shot, moments later was well saved by Ellis Grant.
Keelan O’Connell saw his goal ruled out for offside as Bournemouth continued to be the sharper side and they duly took the lead when a corner from the left was headed home by an unmarked Dobre at the far post.
Two goals in as many minutes put the tie largely out of Boro’s reach before half time. Simpson’s second was quickly added to as Lewis Cook made it three with a long range effort.
Rowan Vine had Gosport’s best chance of the half as he connected with a Danny Thompson cross but wasn’t able to get his full-stretch effort on target. But Bournemouth continued to punish the home side for a series of errors and scored two in two minutes.
Man of the match Green bagged a deserved goal quickly followed by Dobre scoring his second and the Cherries fifth. Boro' reacted by making a double change introducing Lis and Bush for Thomson and Thompson.
The changes had little effect on the game. Grant made a string of decent saves towards the end of the evening but was powerless to prevent Worthington making it six right on the full time whistle.
Gosport now turn their attention back to their fight for survival in the National South and Saturday's daunting trip to play-off chasing Hampton & Richmond.
